How can we help?

Quick answers below. Still stuck? Email [email protected] and a real human will get back to you, usually within two working days.

Delete your account and data

  1. Open Stool Mate and tap your profile button (top right of Today) to open Settings.
  2. Scroll to Delete everything and confirm.
  3. That's it. Your log is removed from this iPhone and from your private iCloud, your account and everything linked to it (friends, shared numbers, invites, nudges, reactions, activity and device tokens) is permanently deleted from our server, and Stool Mate's Sign in with Apple access is revoked.

Deleting the app on its own doesn't delete your iCloud copy or your server account, so use Delete everything first. If you can't open the app any more, email [email protected] from any address, tell us roughly when you joined and your display name, and we'll verify and delete your account. You can also stop using Sign in with Apple for Stool Mate in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Sign-In & Security › Sign in with Apple.

Want a copy first? Export your data before deleting.

Report a user or abuse

Friends features are built to be small and safe: avatars are initials, nudges are presets and there's no free-text chat. If someone still makes you uncomfortable:

  1. Go to Friends, open their profile and tap •••.
  2. Choose Remove, Block or Report. Blocking also removes them and stops future invites and nudges both ways. They're never told.
  3. Reports (spam, harassment, impersonation or something else) go straight to our moderation team.

Moderation contact: [email protected] (subject "Report abuse"). Include the person's display name and what happened. We review reports, normally within 24 hours, and may warn, restrict or remove accounts that break our community rules. If someone is in danger, contact local emergency services first.

Disconnect Apple Health

Stool Mate only reads from Apple Health, and that data never leaves your iPhone. To change or remove access:

  1. Open the Health app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Apps (under Privacy), then Stool Mate.
  3. Switch off any categories, or tap Turn Off All.

You can also go to iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Stool Mate. Stool Mate keeps working without Health, and the patterns that use it simply hide. Since Health data is never stored by Stool Mate, there's nothing else to delete.

How iCloud sync works

  • Your log is saved on your iPhone first. With iCloud sync on (Settings in Stool Mate), it's also kept in the private database of your iCloud account, so it's there on a new phone.
  • It's your iCloud, not ours: we have no access to it. Apple Health data is never put in iCloud.
  • Sync happens in the background when you're online. A new phone needs to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on.
  • Turning sync off keeps the log on this iPhone only. To remove the iCloud copy, use Delete everything, or iPhone Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.

Log not showing up on another device? Check both devices use the same Apple Account, iCloud is on, and Low Power Mode isn't pausing sync. Then open Stool Mate on each device for a minute while connected to Wi‑Fi.

Photos and results

Is my photo saved? No. It's read once to give you a result and discarded straight away. It never goes in your camera roll and nobody stores it. The privacy policy has the details.

The result looks off. Tap Edit on the result (or open the entry later) and change anything. Your answer always wins.

No signal? When you're offline, Stool Mate skips the camera and lets you pick the closest shape instead. Photos are never queued for later.

Camera not working? Check iPhone Settings › Stool Mate › Camera is on. You can always log with Quick log instead.

Missed days

Missed days appear on Today. Tap one (or a blank day in History) to fill it in by hand: pick roughly when and the closest shape, or "Didn't go". Filling a gap within 48 hours keeps your streak. Back-filled days are marked "Added later" and count for your trends. For weekly challenges, only logs added by noon the next day count.

Friends and sharing

What do friends see? Only what you switch on in Friends › What friends see: weekly gut score, streaks, badges and challenge day counts. Everything starts off. Never your log, times, types, colours, notes, photos or Health data.

Add a friend: Friends › Invite, then share the link or QR code. Invites last 7 days. If the link doesn't open the app, install Stool Mate, then tap the link again.

Need a break? Turn on Take a break to hide from every friend view until you come back.

Share cards are made on your phone with only the stats you pick. They never include photos or types.

Notifications

Notifications are discreet (like "Sam sent you a 🔥") and never mention your log. Change them in Stool Mate's Settings or iPhone Settings › Notifications › Stool Mate.

Export your data

In Settings › Export you can create a PDF summary (handy for a doctor's visit), a CSV or a JSON file. Exports are made on your phone and go only where you send them.

A gentle note

Stool Mate is a wellness tracker, not a medical device, and it doesn't diagnose anything. Results are estimates for personal tracking. If something feels off, or you're unsure, chatting with a doctor is always a good idea.
